Cotton States Rip-offs
by: Anonymous

Our local Cotton States agent pulled a fast one on us.

We had just gotten a huge jump in our insurance premiums via State Farm for our personal home and three rental properties. Itw as recommended we try a Dave Ramsey ELP, Cotton States. The quote we receieved was nearly $1200 in savings. My wife and I are both successful business owners and looked the quote over with a fine toothed comb and felt comfortabel that it was a legit quote.

Then this year we got our quotes for the following year. Our homeowners policy jumped 40%! (from $730 to $1050)

When we called the local office the receptionist told us our agent had been re-assigned and would check into the issue.

She told us: What the agent did was tick a box on his request from their underwriters that said we would be considering moving our car insurance over. According to her that gave us an automatic reduction which accounted for the difference. Then after one year if we haven't switched over our policies revert back to the standard rate. This was never explained to us.

This is blatant bait & switch and we have put a call into Dave Ramsey organization as well as the the Alabama State Attorney Generals office about this cheap tactic.
