Siding damage due to high winds..
by Deanna

I am currently in the midst of a claim for damage to two sides of my house caused by high winds...I'm told by the contractor that the insurance company may only pay to have
the two sides done which results in mismatched siding.
I do have replacement cost coverage in my Homeowner's policy...The adjuster has not come right out and said it but I've been told by the general contractor that my insurance company (Maryland based, Brethren Mutual) may only cover the damaged sides and not do the entire house. I recently read your article about mismatched roof and siding and about the insured obtaining an appraisal to show
that the home has lost value as a result. I would really appreciate any advice you can provide.
PS I recently downloaded your book!
Sincerely,
Deanna from Annapolis MD
Dear Deanna:
Use the information in that article to prove your claim. Remind your adjuster of the court case in which the judge required the insurance company to replace ALL the siding to prevent a mismatch.
If the adjuster will not agree to pay for the whole siding job, file a complaint against the insurance company with your Maryland Department of Insurance. You can find their contact information at this website.
Thanks for buying my book! Keep me posted on your progress.
